9LIST ROUTIN3S™ | TROY AIKMAN
9LIST ROUTIN3S | TROY AIKMAN: MORNING
1/ Meditation: I start my morning with 20 to 30 minutes of meditation. I’ve been doing it for seven or eight years now and it’s really helped me get into a good place and be more present.
2/ Athletic Greens: I have a juice every morning -- I’ve been drinking Athletic Greens, which has a ton of important nutrients, plus nitric oxide and Vitamin D supplements.
3/ Newspaper: Call me old school but I still read the newspaper every day. Reading in general is big for me. It’s an important way I stay well-informed and inspired.
9LIST ROUTIN3S | TROY AIKMAN: AFTERNOON
4/Cardio: I got a Peloton bike so most of my cardio now is cycling. I don’t get too hung up on the leaderboard but I’m competitive with myself and my output during each ride. I’m always trying to beat my personal record. I love to celebrate small wins like that.
5/ Protein Smoothie: Incorporating more fruits and vegetables into my diet has really helped me feel good. I make a protein smoothie in the afternoon. Always with a clean protein powder. I’m a big fan of Mark Hyman and love his Pegan Shake.
6/ Recovery: I walk 3-6 miles on my “off days”. I’ve read more and more about how you need to give your body a break, and rest is important, both for your body and mind. I also try to drink between one to two gallons of water a day. The research on the benefits of good hydration seems clear.
9LIST ROUTIN3S | TROY AIKMAN: NIGHT
7/ A Good Meal: I usually have a big, healthy dinner relatively early, around 5pm. There’s nothing quite like wrapping the day over a beer with a friend or catching up with my girls so it’s a balance.
8/ A Good Book: I try to read before bed every night. Something that inspires me, makes me think differently. I am a big fan of The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer and Eckhart Tolle’s work. Reading and daily meditation has helped me with my mental and emotional wellbeing tremendously.
9/ A Good Night’s Sleep: I’m an early riser so I’m pretty strict about getting to bed early so I can get 7-8 hours of sleep.
